Tanabata Circus

A paper project from 2022 envisioning a Japanese folklore-themed circus. Each act is taken from a different Japanese folktale or legend, and accordingly draws on traditional Japanese clothing, festival wear, art, and theater. The plot is centered around the legend of the Weaver and the Herdsman, who can meet only once a year on the festival of Tanabata.
